Our proposed 2-hour workshops, in collaboration with game console 
developers Rockstar, is an introduction to music making practice with 

mobile technology via Sony's PSP. The objective for the workshops isn't
necessarily to just teach the tool, however; even in a short space of
time, students can see compositional and musical materials through the
filter of the application. The objectives of the workshop:

* Encourage students to use mobile technology to experiment creatively
* Use sampling technology as a way of building upon their performance
and improvisation skills with voice and instruments
* Demonstrate how music theoretical and compositional concepts can be
represented in the interface of a mobile application, from phrase
structure to chordal structure and rhythm

Of the free demonstrations, the first will be at the Apple Store in SoHo from 6:30 to 7:30pm, on 11.16, with Mike Henderson, aka DJ Endo.  He will be talking about digital DJing with Traktor.

The second will be on 12.7, at Dubspot, and cover the new Komplete 6 software bundle, NI's all encompassing collection of their software offerings, as well as Machine.  A special host is TBA.

Dubspot will also be offering a comprehensive weekend workshop covering Traktor, which will run December 5th & 6th from 7 - 10pm, and a new Synthesis w/ Native Instruments course will begin soon as well.  Email info@dubspot.com for more details.
